Welcome
To Auction 96
We would like to start by thanking
each of you for helping make Auction 95 and Auction 95 and a half the
success that they were. Auction 95 and a half was a fun experiment that
accomplished our goal of doing something fun and different while making
available a large number of glasses to help fill the voids in many collections.
The comments we have received from you have been very positive with many
requests to repeat this type of venue in the future. We are planning on
it and have one in the works for later in the year. It would appear that
it may run for a shorter duration than the one just past.
Now let’s talk about Auction 96.
Again we have what we think is a varied and unique selection of glasses
for your consideration. This auction features many Disney items from one
of the foremost Disney collections known. A lot of foreign and very hard
to find Disney items will appear throughout the auction.

First off we have a real treat.
The gentleman that purchased the Coca Cola test set of eight Snow White
glasses a while back has decided that they really do not fit his collection
and has offered them for sale. They are Item #1. This set features Snow
White on one glass and each of the other glasses features a different
Dwarf. This is a test set from the Coca Cola Company and Disney that was
never issued and only a couple of the sets have ever surfaced. Now may
be your last chance to ever acquire such a great addition to your collection.

We have not ignored the Pepsi collectors.
Item #304 is one of only two known Pepsi Cola sponsored Popeyes Fried
Chicken glasses that feature the Popeyes sign logo on one side and a Pepsi
Cola single dot script logo on the reverse. Extremely rare glass. If you
ask 100 Pepsi glass collectors if they have this glass or have even seen
it I would bet that you would get 100 nos.
Items #2, #3, & #4 is another
of the very rare and unusual Coca Cola test sets that have surfaced recently.
It is a set of three Indiana Jones, Raiders of the Lost Ark glasses. Each
features a different character in an action scene. Be aware that while
the glasses are in very excellent condition #2 has a large sploch of white
paint missing in the head scarf of the main character. Again, a very seldom
seen set of glasses that you may never again have a chance to add to your
collection.

A real treat for you McDonald’s
collectors. Seldom have we offered a McDonald’s piece as hard to find
and unique as this one. Item #5 is a rare 1968 bisected arches McDonald’s
1000 th opening champagne glass. This glass was given out to select Owners/Operators
in 1968 to commemorate the opening of the 1000 th McDonald’s store in
Des Plaines , Illinois . It is the only glass known to have the bisected
arches on the glass and the earliest first glass from McDonald’s. The
glass is done in gold and while it has a very minor scratch in the gold
the rare nature of this item makes it very easy to over look.
Items #7, #8, & #9 are each
different test glass from Coca Cola done on the flair Coke glass that
is so nice to look at. Look the description over as each is very different
and unique. Glasses you will not see every day.

No, we did not forget you Pepsi
collectors. Item #6 is a Little Lulu and Tubby Tom glass from Toon Tumblers
that was issued for the Baltimore Comic-Con. Sponsored by Pepsi Cola this
glass was only available to attendees at the show. While this is a newer
glass, do not let that fool you. It is extremely hard to find as the comic
collectors do not give up these types of items very easily.
Item #10 is another Disney/Coca
Cola test glass. While the glass appears to be the same as the Mickey
Mouse glass from the Mickey’s Christmas Carol set the top of the glass
is quite different. While the issued set has a slight flair top this glass
has a rounded bulge top that goes in instead of out.
Item #11 is a boxed set of two
Flintstone glasses from Europe . Each glass features three characters
with Fred, Wilma and Pebbles on one glass and Barney, Betty and Bamm Bamm
on the other. The colorful packing does show some slight wear but could
be considered very minor for this vintage set.

Items #12 and #13 are two extremely
hard to find glasses from Europe . Believed to be swanky swigs these two
glasses feature Disney characters. One has Snow White and some of the
Dwarfs while the other shows Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy having a picnic.
Again some glasses you will not run across in your everyday travels. Not
ones you should let get away.

Items #19, #20, #25 & #26 offer
some variations of glasses from the Arizona Cactus set. Please read the
description over and add these different variations to your collection.

Sometimes something really unique
pops up that you do not expect. Items #341 through #348 is a complete
set of eight Smurf glasses from Argentina . Sponsored by Pepsi Cola each
glass features a single Smurf in a colorful action scene and a red, white
and blue Pepsi Cola logo displayed on one side. We have had a few singles
from this set in the past but never a whole set.

Scooby Doo and the gang also have
a prominent place in this auction. Items #228 through #233 are mustard
containers from Europe that each feature scenes of Scooby and his friends.
Some of these are extremely hard to find so check your collection and
see which ones you need.

Among the listing you will find a
number of harder to find items such as #368, Broom Hilda. Also we have
four of the short monsters for you to look at and maybe add to your collection.
#401 is Frankenstein, #402 is The Mutant, #403 is Dracula and #404 is
The Creature from the Black Lagoon.
Many hidden treasures await your
search so now it is time for you to go to work. Look through the list,
find your wants and needs and start the bidding.
Auction 96 will close on April
12, 2008. Have fun and enjoy the hobby. Carl and Mary
